I loved this so much Andromeda. I’ve been thinking about “voice” a lot TOO lately! And, in my own experience, playing with my voice but not getting “voicy” 😵‍💫

I loved this book and the audiobook in particular so much. I bought a physical copy too and am looking forward to rereading.

I'm in complete agreement with you Elizabeth. The audio narrator was outstanding.

I loved this newsletter! I love reading about, thinking about, and discussing voice. It's particularly fascinating in regards to suspense/thrillers, a genre I love to read and have only recently attempted to write. Yes, the voice is often flat and bland in that genre. I would love to know what you think of Rebecca Makkai's book if and when you do read it. I recently finished Notes on an Execution. Did you read it? I thought it was well-crafted and I loved the voice and only occasionally fell into some cliche zones. That's a very broad strokes thought! I am reading a very LONG literary work right now for my book club (beloved writer) and I cannot abide the voice of it AT ALL. It's killing me. Anyway, great newsletter!!! xo

Thanks Kristine! Yes, I DO recommend it. I bought the audiobook version so my hubby and I could listen together on our spring break road trip, the one we are completing just now!

I’ve been thinking about voice a lot as well, as I work my way through unusual stories told in poetic, synesthetic ways that make me go, what?! So thanks for this!
