I chuckled so many times reading this and I LOVED the gifs (and I don't even watch New Girl!) as well as the honest look at a year in reading. I'd much rather hear about the dropped books and forgotten-in-the-middle audiobooks (you should see my audio account) than just a top 10 of the year list. Thanks for mentioning The Deepest Lake! TWO gifs. I got TWO GIFS!! Truly a treasure trove of recs.
I loved Tessa Wegert's Death in the Family (and the second in the series) and definitely plan on picking up the next ones! I loved how complex the main characters were and the setup for their backstories.
And I cannot WAIT for Andromeda's book! Writing retreat! Murder! Mysterious past & weird retreat!!! All the things I love!
i love this list so much! And I am THRILLED to be on it!!! Also, holy shit, so many to add to my TBR, mainly bc I loved Andromeda's and Notes on an Execution so much (which I read based on your earlier rec). Also also, how are you so good at gifs? Is this what true passion looks like????
Ohmigosh, Caitlin, what a list (so many on here I want to read now! I want your private recommendation of which ones I should pick, given what you know of me :), the memes (or GIFs? Are they Gifs?) are hilarious, and I'm so honored to appear TWICE! xoxo
I admire your ability to read without an obsessive need to track or meet a reading goal. What freedom! Also NEW GIRL. Every gify got me I love it so much. I haven’t read quite a few on your list that I will need to check out - I was impressed by my Body too, although all I could hear was Jessica DeFino @ The Unpublishable yelling that you can’t subvert beauty culture by participating in beauty culture or something similarly genius.
Oh my god SAME, I think I read that exact review - I read one where the reviewer said something like "it's hard to burn down a house you're trying to live in," was that her? I was like...damn, that is true.
We JUST watched the episode where Winston is having his fruity drinks and being "so naughty" and it was just as delightful as I remembered.

That's such a good idea: your year in DNFs!

You're going to love Andromeda's!!! It weirdly made me want to go on a writing retreat, albeit not that one...
I haven't read any of Tessa's other books yet, but I'm especially into the idea of the ones with the heavy dose of family drama (my absolute favorite)

I spent SO LONG on the gifs. Ben looked at my computer over the couch and was like "I thought you said you were working" and I was like "I AM!!!!!!"

I feel so cool, reading your books that no one else can get yet
